Aileen Wournos was a prostitute and drifter who confessed to the brutal slaying of seven of her clients along the highways of Central Florida. Wournos claimed that,as a career prostitute, she had been raped on numerous occasions. She finally vowed that it would never happen again the evening she killed her first victim.Convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to die in Florida's electric chair, Wournos claimed that all of the men she is accused of killing became violent with her during acts of sex.She stated that only reason she agreed to a videotaped confession in 1991 was to protect the woman she loved and who was her accomplice on a number of the murders.As it turned out, her female friend was cooperating with the police in return for immunity.While behind bars Wournos had continued to keep in touch and speak out her innocence to her special friend until she was put on Death Row.
